Narrative Critique
An exercise in art criticism and creative writing In this exercise, students will critique the work of their peers by creating a narrative inspired by the work. Students will trade works with someone in the class and write a story about the work that describes what is happening in the work. They will imagine the work is alive, and describe who this work is. The exercise is intended to show students that the way they perceive their own work may differ greatly from the way it is perceived by a peer. After receiving feedback, students will write a reflection on how they felt about their peers’ interpretation.
